Mrs. coldH20wi built this basket out of dogwood & willow at a basket making workshop she attended with The Kid a few months ago. She didn't quite finish it so she had to harvest, OK, kill some local dogwood to complete her project. We, yes we, use the basket to collect our eggs from the coop each day. & here I thought we were sort of de-animaling so we could get away. Oh well, Mrs. coldH2Owi does sell the eggs & the money is going into a fund for The Babies. & I must say that these are big time eggs, all organic feed since the chickens were chicks, a per egg cost reaching upwards of, oh, I don't know, maybe $5 each. Anyway, here's a pic of the basket. Nice, eh?
As I mentioned above, the basket wasn't quite completed at the workshop & local dogwood had to be used. Mrs. coldH2Owi brought the killed dogwood into the bathroom & put it into a Home Depot bucket with about 6 inches of water in the bottom. & as luck would have it, the goofball dogwood began sprouting & flowering. What a pleasure! Especially this week, where the temps are going below zero each night. & although the sun is out each day, I think the dogwood is as helpful as my happy light.
The flowering.
(I know they are out of focus & I won't insult you by claiming it was an artistic decision. Just now I am too lazy to try again. Maybe later with the big flash.)
The bucket.
Here are a couple of chickadee photos taken quickly. I still need to figure out how to get a moving thing to be still enough to be crystal clear. I've got a lot to learn about image taken.
